Don’t you love the moody watercolor I chose for the very top of this website? It’s Lake Harrison in British Columbia, and the artist is my talented husband, Dave Baab. The illustration of this post is another of his watercolors of Lake Harrison. I often use Dave's watercolors as illustrations for my blog posts, so you can scroll through recent posts to see his art.
My passion is prayer, and many of my blog posts focus on various forms of prayer. I long for Christians to enjoy prayer and feel confident and grateful that we can draw near to the living God, walk with Jesus, and hear the encouraging and challenging voice of the Holy Spirit. Encouraging prayer is the big purpose of this website. One of the additional purposes is to make it easy for people to get information about my books. On laptops, you'll see the covers of my books to the left of the blog. Each cover is a link to a page with information about that book. On cell phones, visit my books page to see all my book covers and click to get information about those books.
I upload a blog post every week. If you'd like to receive an email when I post on this blog, sign up below under "subscribe."
Be sure to check out my articles page. Over the years I’ve written many articles on topics related to my books, and I want those articles to be available to anyone who desires to read them or use them in any kind of class, small group, or leadership team. You’re welcome to print them out and use them with groups.
On the bio page, you may enjoy the interviews posted there. Over the years, several people have interviewed me for their blogs. On the academic page, my entire Ph.D. on church websites is accessible, along with an academic article that came out of my Ph.D.
Thank you for spending time on my website. Your interest is a blessing to me.

Lynne is pleased to announce the release of her two 2024 books, both of them illustrated with her talented husband Dave's watercolors. She is thrilled at how good the watercolors look in the printed books, and in the kindle versions, if read on a phone, the watercolors glow. Friendship, Listening and Empathy: A Prayer Guide guides the reader into new ways to pray about the topics in the title. Draw Near: A Lenten Devotional guides the reader to a psalm for each day of Lent and offers insightful reflection/discussion questions that can be used alone or in groups.
Another recent book is Two Hands: Grief and Gratitude in the Christian Life, available in paperback, audiobook, and for kindle. Lynne's 2018 book is Nurturing Hope: Christian Pastoral Care for the Twenty-First Century, and her most popular book is Sabbath-Keeping: Finding Freedom in the Rhythms of Rest (now available as an audiobook as well as paperback and kindle). You can see her many other book titles here, along with her Bible study guides.
You can listen to Lynne talk about these topics: empathy, bringing spiritual practices to life. Sabbath keeping for recent grads., and Sabbath keeping for families and children.
Lynne was interviewed for the podcast "As the Crow Flies". The first episode focuses on why listening matters and the second one on listening skills.
Here are two talks Lynne gave on listening (recorded in audio form on YouTube): Listening for Mission and Ministry and Why Listening Matters for Mission and Ministry.
"Lynne's writing is beautiful. Her tone has such a note of hope and excitement about growth. It is gentle and affirming."

"Dear Dr. Baab, You changed my life. It is only through God’s gift of the sabbath that I feel in my heart and soul that God loves me apart from anything I do."
